1. About Fargo Area Sports
Who are we?
Fargo Area Sports (formerly Fargo Youth Baseball) was established in 2017 through the merger of Fargo Babe Ruth and Fargo Little League, supported by the Fargo Park District. We serve youth ages 5–18, offering baseball, fastpitch, and pickleball programs under the philosophy of “A Kid’s First Organization.”
2. Registration
When does registration open?
November 15 each year
Notifications via email, website, and social media
Register online through the homepage
When does registration close?
Register prior to March 1 to guarantee a roster spot
Late registrations incur a $25 fee and may be waitlisted
Travel tryouts: Must register by January 31
Early registration discount: $10 off if registered by December 31
Travel Team Fees: Additional fees apply based on games and tournaments scheduled
3. Refund Policy
League: Refunds prior to team creation (mid-March)
Travel: Refunds prior to first tryout date
Exceptions: Medical reasons may be considered
4. Fundraising
Optional program to offset registration fees

5. Travel Baseball Program
Ages 9–14
Tryouts required
Selection by committee and head coach
Not selected? Player placed on league team
6. Little League All-Star Selection
Teams for 12U–15U
Selection based on:
Skill and ability
Attitude, team spirit, leadership
Character and sportsmanship
12U limit: Max 4 players per team (Little League mandate)
Selection process is confidential
7. Age Charts
League: Accepts both Cal Ripken (Babe Ruth) and Little League charts
Travel: Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth chart
All-Star: Little League chart
8. Payments
Credit/debit cards accepted online and in-office (processing fees may apply)
Online registration recommended; in-person registration available
9. Team Placement
Registered by March 1: guaranteed roster spot
Teams may stay together year-to-year
Requests for specific coaches/players accommodated when possible
Placement may consider school and geographic location
Non-Fargo Residents/Students: Eligible to play but not for Travel or All-Star teams
10. Season Information
Dates: May – late July (age-dependent)
League Games: 18–20
Travel Games: 30–50, including tournaments
Game Days:
League: 2x per week (single games; 13U may play doubleheaders)
Travel: League doubleheaders Tue/Thu; coaches schedule additional games
Practice:
Minimum 1/week (except 5–6 year olds)
Coordinated by coaches and parents
Fields are first-come, first-serve
11. Game Cancellations
Announced by 4 PM on website, social media, and text alerts (if enabled)
After 4 PM, on-site umpires decide
Please refrain from calling the office. You will be notified as soon as a decision is made.
12. Equipment & Rules
Bats: Must have USA Baseball logo; BBCOR allowed for 13–15
Player Equipment: Glove, bat, cleats, white pants required; team bag provides helmets, catchers gear, balls, and first aid
Playing Rules: Vary by age; see Rules Page
By Age Group:
5–6: 60’ bases, coach pitch, tee if 3 swings missed, no stealing
7–8: 60’ bases, coach pitch (player pitch 8U mid-season), no stealing
9–10: 60’ bases, 46’ mound, stealing after ball crosses plate
11–12: League and travel options, base/mound distances vary
13: 80’ bases, 54’ mound, standard baseball rules
14–15: 90’ bases, 60’6” mound, standard baseball rules
13. Code of Conduct & Concerns
All concerns must be reported to the FYB office
