RRVL SKILL OPTIONS
League Structure
Both the Intermediate (National) and Advanced (American) divisions offer the same number of games and required practices. Teams compete against others within the same skill division to promote balanced competition. There's no guarantee that there will be separate skill divisions based on the registration numbers. These divisions are designed to maintain parity and create a positive experience for all players.
Individual Registrations
We ask families to honestly evaluate their player’s current skill level to help ensure the best possible experience during the season.
- If your player struggled in the Advanced/Competitive (American) division last year, we recommend considering the Intermediate (National) division, which provides a supportive environment for continued skill development.
- If your player excelled in the Intermediate (National) division, we encourage you to consider the Advanced (American) division.
Please Note:
Fargo Youth Baseball, West Fargo Baseball, Moorhead Youth Baseball, and the
Red River Valley League (RRVL) reserve the right to adjust team placements if needed to maintain competitive balance across divisions.
Preformed Teams
For teams registering together, the following guidelines are recommended:
- If your team played in the Advanced (American) or a merged division last season and finished below .500, we recommend moving to the Intermediate division.
- If your team played in the Intermediate (National) division last season and finished above .750, we recommend moving up to the Advanced division.
Skill Level Recommendations
Our 5–6U program is one division. For 7U–15U, the RRVL aims to offer two skill divisions (depending on registration numbers):
- Intermediate (National)
- Advanced (American)
