Umpire Registration
Are you looking to have a great summer experience umpiring baseball? The Red River Valley League officiates baseball games for ages 10-15u. This is a great way to make additional cash as umpires in the past have earned up to $7,000! Games will be played in Fargo, West Fargo, and Moorhead.

2026 Umpire Registration Form
Everyone must complete this form to confirm you are umpiring for the 2026 season. Please make sure you have the correct information entered.
The Umpire Coordinator will be in contact with you regarding your registration.
This must be completed each year.
USA Baseball Umpire Certification or copy of NFHS:
You must complete the online Introduction to Umpiring Course on the USA Baseball website. Please be aware that you will need to create or sign into your USA Baseball account. Once logged in, please select the Introduction to Umpiring Course. This is a free course.
If you are officiating high school, you can send in your NFHS online rules clinic certification and that will complete this requirement. You do not need to take the USA Baseball Umpire Certification if you take the NFHS online rules clinic course. You do NOT need to complete the Abuse Awareness or Code of Conduct course.
USA Baseball Introduction to Umpiring Course
Attend a Red River Valley League Umpire Clinic:
You must attend one of the in person clinics held at the ATTIC. You can choose which date works best for you below.
April 12th - 1pm-3pm
April 26th - 1pm-3pm
May 3rd - 1pm-3pm

This can be completed through Horizon Web Ref when your account is created by Fargo Area Sports.

You will not get paid until all of these requirements have been completed.
Game Rates:
Regular Season Games:10-12U: $40/game (1 person/game); 13-15U $65/game (1 person/game)
Tournament Games: 9-12U: $50/game (1 person/game) ; 13- 15U $55/game (2 person Crew) or $82.50/game (1 person/game)

Red River Valley League Rules and Bat Rules:
Divisions 5-12 will be based off of Little League International rules and regulations. Each league will have a few exceptions and can be found in the below documents.
Divisions 13-15 will be based off of Babe Ruth League rules and regulations. Each League will have a few exceptions and can be found in the below document.
Be sure to review these each year as there are some rule differences as you move to a new age group. Also, we review the rules on a yearly basis and some additions or modifications may have been done from the previous year.

Beginning with the 2018 season, non-wood and laminated bats used in Fargo Youth Baseball MUST HAVE the USA Baseball logo sticker signifying that the bat meets the USABat – USA Baseball’s Youth Bat Performance Standard. Any bat WITHOUT this sticker is illegal and cannot be used.
All BPF – 1.15 bats will be prohibited beginning with the 2018 season. Additionally, starting in 2018, the bat diameter shall not exceed 2⅝ inches for these divisions of play.

Equipment:
If you choose not to purchase your own umpire equipment, there may be some available to rent which is a first-come, first-serve basis. A deposit of $50 has to be made. We can also remove this $50 from your first paycheck. We will return your deposit once equipment is returned back to us.
Umpire Pay Form:
This form is for someone who had to fill in and umpire your game. If you are a certified umpire or are in the Horizon system, please do not fill out this form.
